Batter Down

Who saw the video of Delmon Young throwing his bat at an umpire? Unbelievable. Hopefully his suspension will be long and distinguished (like my Johnson).

You've heard me rant in the past about cheaters hop-skipping out of the box and 'roid ragers crawling around the bases after a home run. I believe that Mr. Young's actions are an extension of that decline from "team mentality." What can you expect when a twenty year old kid feels he's entitled to $15,000,000 per year to play baseball? Although MLB hasn't regressed as drastically as other professional sports, I give the Commisioner three more years before he needs to pass a rule similar to the NFL's stating that home run celebrations can not use props or live animals.

Anyway, I'm proud to announce that Mr. Young is our first recipient of the "Paul Konerko Prima Donna Award." Congratulations Delmon.

His agent issued a halfhearted apology, so all is well. Consider this matter closed.
